snowbound and stir crazy

Wish we were with you on your fab cruise, hope this reaches you as it has taken us about two days to figure out blogging.
All I knew of bloggs up to now was the nickname of a lad in our class at school called Peter Bailey.
Why he was called Bloggs is one of lifes great mysteries.

Fiji

This is our future Fiji day out

Hawaii

We are on our way to Pago Pago in American Samoa having spent the last two days in Hawaii. Out first port of call was Maui. iWe took a day trip whale watching. What a day, what an experience. We have seen whales previously but nothing like this. We were surrounded by them, breaching chasing, flapping their fins or tails. One swam a couple of time underneath our boat. We even saw a mom teaching her little one to breach. It was all very impressive. Maui is the home of this particular whale, the humpback. they feed in Alaska and mate and give birth in Maui. the day was warm and sunny.

Lots to do on the ship of course when we returned. There are shows every night or dancing, etc. Too much food.

Yesterday was a day in Honolulu on the Island of Oahu. We took a trip on a submarine. The weather changed considerably here and, having taken an organised trolley to the pier, we had to walk along it to catch the boat that would take us to the sub. Suddenly the heavens opened and the heaviest rainfall you would imagine began. We Mancunians already had our long raincoats, hats and umbrellas at the ready but others were not so fortunate. They were soaked to the skin. The submarine ride was very interesting. Unfortunately, with the construction over many years in Honolulu, the surrounding corals have died with pollution entering the bay. To counteract this, man made reefs have been created and the fish are beginning to return and coral growing once again. We even saw a couple of large turtles which are on the endangered list, and a Moray Eel or two.

We are pleased that we have finally worked out how to do this blog. We had problems with the computer, problems with the wireless connections, problems with Norton and finally problem with two seniors who appear to have learning problems. Big thanks to Graham for guiding us us on the correct path.
